📅 Day 1｜Arrival & First Impressions of Ipoh
第一天｜抵达怡保，初识山城
After landing at Sultan Azlan Shah Airport, we picked up our rental car and headed to the hotel to check in.
After a short rest, we set off for Tasik Cermin (Mirror Lake).
Hidden among Ipoh’s limestone hills, the calm waters reflect the surrounding cliffs and greenery, creating a remarkably peaceful landscape. It was our first real glimpse of Ipoh’s natural beauty and a memorable way to begin the trip.
In the evening, we visited Kin Loong Valley Chang Jiang White Coffee.
Surrounded by limestone hills, we enjoyed a rich cup of authentic Ipoh white coffee while taking in the scenery. It was a simple moment, but exactly the kind of slow and relaxing experience we had hoped for.
飞机抵达怡保苏丹阿兹兰沙机场后，我们先办理租车手续，随后前往酒店办理入住。稍作休息后，便迫不及待地出发前往 镜湖（Tasik Cermin）。
镜湖隐藏在石灰岩山壁之间，湖水平静如镜，青翠的山峰倒映在水面上。第一次见到这样的景色，确实让人印象深刻，也为这趟怡保之旅揭开了序幕。
傍晚，我们来到 建龙长江白咖啡（Kin Loong Valley Chang Jiang White Coffee）。坐在群山环绕的环境中，一边欣赏山景，一边喝上一杯香浓的怡保白咖啡，旅途一下子慢了下来。
第一天没有安排太多景点，反而让我们有机会真正感受怡保悠闲、安静的山城气息。
📅 Day 2｜Cave Temples, a Forgotten Town & Kellie’s Castle
第二天｜洞穴庙宇、古镇与古堡
After a light breakfast, we began our temple-hopping day.
Our first stop was Sam Poh Tong Temple.
However, there were quite a number of stray dogs around the area, and my wife was too nervous to get out of the car. I drove around first to assess the situation before eventually taking her out to explore.
Built into the limestone cliffs, Sam Poh Tong was truly impressive. The scale of the rock formations combined with the temple architecture made a very strong first impression.
We then visited the neighbouring Nam Thean Tong Temple, another historic temple built along the mountain wall. I slowly climbed the stone steps and explored the upper sections of the temple.
Our next stop was Ling Sen Tong Temple.
There was no dedicated parking area, so I had to park along the roadside. With stray dogs still roaming around, my wife decided to stay in the car while I quickly explored the colourful temple grounds on my own.
For lunch, we headed to the bustling Taiwanese restaurant Tai Ho Jiak.
After lunch, we drove to Papan Heritage Village, a largely deserted historic settlement.
Many of its old wooden buildings looked weathered and fragile, but that was exactly what made the place fascinating. Walking through the quiet streets felt almost like stepping into a forgotten chapter of the past.
We then visited Kellie’s Castle, an unfinished mansion with strong early European architectural influences.
For the night, we stayed at an apartment built against the hills of Ipoh.
The following morning, thick mist covered the mountains outside our window. The peaks appeared and disappeared through the fog, creating an almost highland or alpine atmosphere.
早餐后，我们正式开启今天的庙宇与历史之旅。
第一站是 三宝洞（Sam Poh Tong Temple）。不过，由于现场流浪狗较多，太太有些害怕，一度不敢下车。我只好先开车绕一圈观察情况，确认环境后，再陪她一起下车。
三宝洞依山而建，巨大的石灰岩山体与庙宇建筑融为一体，第一眼看到时，确实让人非常震撼。
随后，我们前往相邻的 南天洞（Nam Thean Tong Temple）。这里同样沿着山壁而建，我一路顺着石阶慢慢往上，参观洞中的庙宇与佛像。
接着来到 灵仙岩（Ling Sen Tong Temple）。由于现场没有专属停车场，只能暂时将车停在路边。加上附近同样有不少流浪狗，最后还是由我一个人下车，快步进去参观。
中午，我们前往生意非常红火的台湾餐厅 台好甲（Tai Ho Jiak）。吃完午餐后，驱车前往 甲板古镇（Papan Heritage Village）。
甲板给人的感觉非常特别。这里许多旧式房屋已经荒废，有些建筑甚至显得破旧不堪，但正因为如此，整个小镇反而充满浓厚的历史沧桑感。走在几乎没有游客的老街上，有一种时光突然停止的感觉。
随后，我们前往 凯利古堡（Kellie’s Castle）。这座未完工的古堡散发着浓厚的欧洲建筑气息，在马来西亚这样的热带环境中显得格外特别，也留下了不少关于过去的想象与故事。
晚上，我们入住一间依山而建的公寓。
第二天清晨醒来时，更是意外发现群山被浓浓的雾气笼罩，远处山峰若隐若现，仿佛来到了高原或山区度假胜地。
📅 Day 3｜Local Food, Agro-Tourism & Shopping
第三天｜在地美食、农场体验与旧街场
We started the morning early at Choong Kee Pokok Besar Restaurant, famous for its Yong Tau Foo.
The fried items were beautifully golden and crisp, making for a very satisfying breakfast.
We then began our agro-tourism adventure.
First came Tambun Pomelo GoChin Agro Farm, where we toured the pomelo orchards, sampled sweet and juicy local pomelos, and bought various pomelo-related products as souvenirs.
Next, we visited Tambun Musk Melon Agro Farm to learn about Japanese melon cultivation in modern greenhouses and taste freshly harvested melons.
Unfortunately, the afternoon heat became almost unbearable, so we cut the farm visit short and headed indoors to the Enlightened Heart Buddhist Temple.
The temple’s towering pagoda and intricate architecture made it a completely different experience from the cave temples we had visited the previous day.
Later, we went to Ong Kee Restaurant for their famous Bean Sprout Chicken and rice noodles.
The bean sprouts were exceptionally plump and crunchy, while the kampung chicken was tender and flavourful.
After lunch, we returned to Ipoh Old Town to shop for local souvenirs before checking into our new guesthouse.
The location was excellent, just a short walk from Ipoh Parade.
After checking in, we walked to DOUBA for a bowl of silky Tau Fu Fah and then spent some time shopping at Ipoh Parade.
Dinner was at Hock Kee Kopitiam, where we enjoyed authentic local South-East Asian flavours.
After dinner, we took a leisurely evening walk to Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh to see the beautifully illuminated MBI Clock Tower.
第三天一早，我们先到 忠记兵如港大树头（Choong Kee Pokok Besar Restaurant） 品尝著名的酿豆腐。
这里的炸物炸得金黄酥脆，外皮香脆、内馅鲜嫩，尤其是酿豆腐，让人一早就吃得非常满足。
早餐后，我们开始今天的农场与文化之旅。
第一站是 打扪高晶柚子园（Tambun Pomelo GoChin Agro Farm）。除了参观柚子园，我们还亲自品尝了当地清甜多汁的柚子，并购买了一些柚子相关的产品作为手信。
接着来到 打扪日本蜜瓜种植园（Tambun Musk Melon Agro Farm），了解现代温室如何栽培日本蜜瓜，并现场品尝新鲜蜜瓜。
不过，午后的天气实在太炎热，我们很快便结束农场行程，转往室内的 打扪藏传心意佛院（Enlightened Heart Buddhist Temple）。
佛院拥有高耸壮观的佛塔，以及非常复杂的建筑布局，和前面参观的传统洞穴庙宇形成完全不同的视觉感受。
之后，我们来到著名的 安记芽菜鸡沙河粉（Ong Kee Restaurant）。
这里最吸引人的就是肥美爽脆的芽菜，以及嫩滑鲜美的甘榜鸡。简单的一盘鸡肉、芽菜和河粉，却非常有怡保当地饮食的味道。
午餐后，我们到旧街场购买一些怡保手信，然后前往新的民宿办理入住。
这次住宿地点距离 Ipoh Parade 很近，因此晚上出行相当方便。
办好入住后，我们先步行到 豆霸（DOUBA） 吃了一碗滑嫩的豆腐花，再到 Ipoh Parade 逛街。
晚餐则安排在 福气安康（Hock Kee Kopitiam），享用地道的南洋风味料理。
晚餐后，我们慢慢散步到 怡保市政厅广场（Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh），欣赏夜晚亮灯后的 MBI 钟楼。
结束一天行程时，整个城市已经安静下来，夜色下的怡保显得格外悠闲。
📅 Day 4｜Old Town Heritage, Architecture & Cave Climbing
第四天｜旧街场历史、建筑巡礼与古庙登山
We began the morning at Restoran Thean Chun, where we tried its famous shredded chicken hor fun.
We then spent the morning walking and taking photographs around Ipoh Old Town.
At Han Chin Pet Soo, we learned about the city’s tin-mining heritage, while the Ho Yan Hor Museum introduced us to the history of local Chinese herbal tea.
From there, we embarked on a concentrated heritage and architecture trail, visiting:
Padang Ipoh, Decorative Facade Wall, Ipoh Railway Station, Birch Memorial Clock Tower, Koperasi Masjid Perak Berhad.
Along the way, we stopped at Second Mama Red Bean Ice for a refreshing dessert and later relaxed over tea at STG Ipoh Oldtown.
We then had Char Kway Teow at Kedai Makanan Nam Heong and made a quick photo stop at Kinta Heights Apartment, one of the city’s distinctive retro-modern landmarks.
Our next stop was VNest Concept Cafe, where we enjoyed bird’s nest desserts and afternoon refreshments.
Later in the day, we headed to Perak Cave Temple.
Under the hot afternoon sun, we climbed the long staircase through the cave and up toward the higher levels.
It was physically demanding, sweaty and tiring, but reaching the top gave us a satisfying sense of achievement.
After descending, we visited Ipoh Kallumalai Arulmigu Subramaniyar Temple, admiring its magnificent and colourful Hindu architecture.
For dinner, we chose Durbar at FMS.
The heritage atmosphere was excellent, and some of the fried dishes were wonderfully crispy. However, overall, the food itself was fairly average.
第四天早晨，我们慕名前往 天津茶室（Restoran Thean Chun），品尝著名的鸡丝河粉。
随后，我们开始在 怡保旧街场（Ipoh Old Town） 漫步、拍照。
首先参观 闲真别墅（Han Chin Pet Soo），进一步了解怡保过去辉煌的锡矿业历史；接着到 何人可博物馆（Ho Yan Hor Museum），认识本土凉茶产业的发展故事。
之后，我们展开一轮密集的城市历史建筑巡礼，先后经过：
怡保大草场（Padang Ipoh）, Decorative Facade Wall, 怡保火车站（Ipoh Railway Station）, 毕治纪念塔（Birch Memorial Clock Tower）, Koperasi Masjid Perak Berhad.
一路上，我们不断停下来拍照，也慢慢感受怡保老城融合殖民建筑、华人历史与现代街头艺术的独特气质。
天气炎热时，我们来到 二奶巷红豆冰（Second Mama Red Bean Ice） 吃冰消暑，再到 STG Ipoh Oldtown 喝下午茶。
随后，我们到 南香茶餐室（Kedai Makanan Nam Heong） 品尝炒粿条，并顺道打卡充满复古特色的 Kinta Heights Apartment。
接着来到 VNest Concept Cafe，品尝燕窝与下午茶。
下午的重头戏是 霹雳洞（Perak Cave Temple）。
顶着炎炎烈日一路拾级而上，爬过一层又一层石阶。虽然过程真的非常累，但站在高处俯瞰怡保的那一刻，还是觉得这番辛苦值得。
下山后，我们再前往 Ipoh Kallumalai Arulmigu Subramaniyar Temple，欣赏壮观而色彩鲜艳的印度教建筑。
晚餐则选择了 Durbar at FMS。
这里最大的特色其实是环境。老建筑的气氛非常迷人，充满浓郁的历史感，炸物也相当香脆。不过如果单纯以食物来评价，整体只能算中规中矩。
📅 Day 5｜Dim Sum, Gelato & Departure
第五天｜早茶、冰淇淋与归途
On our final morning, we visited the legendary Ipoh Foh San for traditional Cantonese dim sum.
With steaming baskets of dim sum and hot tea, it was a relaxed and satisfying way to begin our last day.
After breakfast, we stopped at Morelife Artisans Gelato for some artisanal ice cream.
Our final lunch was at Starry Night Ipoh Restaurant.
Frankly, it turned out to be another example of an elegant setting paired with fairly ordinary food.
One small incident stood out. The owner suggested that we order plain water, but we later noticed a RM1 charge per glass on the bill. The amount itself was insignificant, but the experience left us slightly uncomfortable and became one of the more memorable anecdotes of the trip.
And just like that, our five-day, four-night journey through Ipoh came to an end.
There were mountains, limestone caves, temples, colonial buildings, old streets, museums, coffee, pomelos, melons, dim sum, Yong Tau Foo, Bean Sprout Chicken and countless local flavours.
Most importantly, we did more than simply check destinations off a list.
We experienced Ipoh at our own pace.
Some places were breathtaking. Some meals were unforgettable. Some were surprisingly ordinary.
And some moments made us laugh.
Together, they became our memories of Ipoh.
Ipoh… kita dah sampai.
And perhaps, one day, we’ll be back.
最后一天早上，我们前往老字号 富山茶楼（Ipoh Foh San），享用传统广式点心。
蒸笼里不断送出热腾腾的点心，配上一壶热茶，这种悠闲的早餐方式，也为这趟怡保之旅带来一个舒服的开始。
吃完点心后，我们前往 Morelife Artisans Gelato，享用精致的手工冰淇淋。
最后一顿午餐安排在 星星之夜（Starry Night Ipoh Restaurant）。
坦白说，这又是一家比较典型的“环境优雅、食物表现一般”的餐厅。
其中一个让我们印象特别深刻的小插曲，是老板主动建议我们点白开水，但结账时才发现一杯白开水收费 RM1。虽然金额并不大，却让我们产生了一种不太舒服的消费体验，也成了旅途中一个颇有戏剧性的插曲。
无论如何，五天四夜的怡保之旅就在这里画上句点。
这趟旅程有山、有洞穴、有古庙、有老建筑、有历史，也有咖啡、柚子、蜜瓜、点心、酿豆腐、芽菜鸡和各种当地美食。
更重要的是，我们没有只是“打卡”怡保，而是真正走进了这座城市。
有些地方很漂亮，有些食物令人惊喜，有些体验让人哭笑不得，但这些不同的片段，最后都变成了属于我们的怡保回忆。
Ipoh… kita dah sampai.
而且，我想我们还会再回来。
