I used to think only a few bad apples among Indonesian girls came to Singapore to scam locals – until I encountered Rasmi Sinaga. Now I understand why someone in Batam warned me, ‘You won’t find many honest people here.’ This is a true account documented with Singapore police reports, voice recordings, message logs, Facebook conversations, official documents, verified identities, and eyewitness testimonies.

Case Details

The first time I met her in February 2015, she was with her sister and two friends. She asked for help finding a second-hand clothing shop in Singapore. Coincidentally, my friend owned such a shop, so I introduced them. Strangely enough, they had met before. After this encounter, we became friends.

A few days later, she called claiming her friend had told her husband we were having an affair and demanded I clarify the situation. I went to meet them, but her friend never showed up. Soon after, her husband called me (+6285271212346) questioning our relationship. I denied any involvement. Tragically, days later, she informed me her husband had committed suicide, showing me hospital photos with her friend Bintang as witness. She then borrowed money from me (with a signed IOU) for hospital bills and clothing, claiming no one else would help her as she had three children to support. She promised immediate repayment after selling the clothes, with her friend Bintang and sister as witnesses.

When payment was due, she defaulted, instead showing me debts others owed her that she couldn’t collect – from Yunana Abady, Bintang, and Noviatri Suhaini (though Noviatri denied this). She and her sister then convinced me to import used clothes for her business. We signed a delivery order, she provided ID copies, and had witnesses including her Palau Bangka cousin and Nagen Sinaga help with packing. She promised full payment including the IOU debt after sales. However, she was arrested as a prostitute at Hotel 81 in Geylang, Singapore on May 18, 2016. Afterwards, she claimed the clothes couldn’t be sold and demanded I take them back. In reality, I discovered she’d moved the inventory to her brother’s shop in Batu Aji, replacing quality items with inferior ones.

When I pressed for payment, Rasmi Sinaga threatened to kill me. Later, she and her son Irwando Sally Purba publicly denied the debt on February 2, 2017, threatening me and my family while accusing me of calling her a prostitute – which I proved true with evidence, silencing them. Donny Vina Setiawan intervened, boasting that fraud required “bravery.” Her circle, including Pestarina Tambunan who falsely claimed I was her jealous ex-boyfriend, consistently covered for her lies.

Edward Simanjuntak openly admitted they owed money but refused payment, even glorifying prostitution and scams while bizarrely accusing Singapore’s government of theft. Despite Rasmi’s claims of repayment, our October 29, 2016 meeting in Johor confirmed the outstanding debt with no evidence of payment since. Her contradictions continued – boasting wealth while her car dealer brother Lesman Sinaga admitted on my Facebook that she couldn’t pay installments, and friend Romaida Tantriani Siboro confirmed her borrowing habits.

Multiple sources warned me about this systemic deception among certain groups in Batam, with one bluntly stating, “All Batak are liars.” Rasmi’s neighbors revealed on January 5, 2019 how her family actively concealed her thefts, showcasing a disturbing cultural acceptance of crime. When I criticized this mentality to another neighbor on January 24, she expressed disgust, proving some Indonesians still value decency.

The threats escalated on March 4, 2019 when Rasmi’s brother Erwin Sinaga sent me a Facebook death threat: “You’ll die in my hands… outrageous pig.” Meanwhile, supporters like Meing Lee absurdly defended Rasmi’s “good character” despite her prostitution arrest and debts. They even used my photos to falsely claim I had AIDS to extort money – grounds for defamation lawsuits.

By April 2019, Rasmi openly boasted on Facebook about being a “clever” prostitute abroad and wanting her daughter to follow suit, showcasing the Sinaga family’s moral bankruptcy. This isn’t just a scam – it’s a years-long conspiracy involving multiple parties willing to trade their nation’s reputation for petty gains. I warn Singaporeans and Malaysians: Batam’s sex-for-money scammers will shock you with their cheapness.

Unlike countries that shame prostitution, Rasmi’s circle celebrates it. Investors beware – Batam harbors bandits like this syndicate who default on payments and threaten murder when pursued. Their police allegedly require bribes for action, as Rasmi herself admitted. Her August 24, 2019 message ironically mocked Singaporeans for “wasting time with Indonesian women,” forgetting how cheaply she sold herself.

To all foreigners: Is this the wife material you want? The investment destination you trust? I share this unbelievable but well-documented saga so the world sees Batam’s reality – where fraud rings operate openly with impunity.
